Role overview
Glean is looking for creative engineers to own and launch delightful user-facing features. In a rapidly growing startup, this entails developing ideas with product managers and designers to balance engineering constraints with product requirements. You will oversee greenfield features from inception through implementation, experimentation, launch, and post-launch iteration.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end feature development: design, implementation, experimentation, launch, and maintenance
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, data scientists, and other engineers to understand problem spaces and create solutions
- Architect REST APIs backed by stable, scalable server-side implementations to maximize client flexibility
- Write robust, efficient, maintainable, and testable code
- Mentor more junior engineers and learn from senior engineers
Requirements
- BA/BS in computer science or related degree
- Experience building and shipping scalable backend features
Key knowledge and skills
- Experience building scalable and maintainable backend systems
- Designing and authoring REST APIs; OpenAPI is a plus
- Experience building distributed CRUD-level functionality, ideally with both SQL and NoSQL databases
- Comfortable in or desire to master Golang and Java
- Thrive in a customer-focused, cross-functional environment
- Proactive attitude, ownership of both small tasks and large features
- User-centric and empathetic mentality for building products
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $140,000 - $265,000 annually (compensation determined by location, level, knowledge, skills, and experience)
- Certain roles may be eligible for variable compensation, equity, and benefits
