Details

WordPress VIP (part of Automattic) is seeking a Solutions Engineer to provide technical leadership to the Enterprise sales team. The role focuses on consultative, solution-based selling, building scalable processes and systems to deliver technical expertise, and supporting sales through demos, proofs of concept, and technical responses to RFP/RFI requests. This is a fully-remote role; Automattic is prioritizing candidates in the United States and Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Partner proactively with Sales and Customer Success to qualify new business opportunities by assessing technical requirements, competitive landscape, and business drivers.
  • Identify and solve customer problems proactively and creatively through effective project management and consultation on technical setup.
  • Build proofs of concept and lead the demo process — including building, running, and training the team based on buyer personas, verticals, and business priorities.
  • Serve as the primary technical point person for RFP/RFI responses that Account Executives need assistance with.
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to implement complete solutions using Cloud best practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a Solutions Engineer or related, customer-facing position translating customer technical requirements into value discussions.
  • Understanding of enterprise business models, content distribution, audience engagement, and enterprise-focused technical solutions.
  • Experience with WordPress and PHP, or equivalent consulting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building Proofs of Concept and leading demo presentations.
  • Experience working closely with Account Executive teams on complex sales opportunities.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; able to present, speak on the phone, and write effectively for technical and non-technical audiences.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $150,000 - $200,000 USD plus variable compensation. (Salary ranges are global and Automattic pays in local currency.)
