Grafana Labs is the company behind the open observability cloud. We are a 100% remote company with a global team and an open-source culture. The Grafana Alerting squad operates at the core of the Grafana open-source project and focuses on providing deep capabilities for users to manage alerts on-prem and at infinite scale in Cloud. This is a remote opportunity and Grafana Labs is interested in applications from Sweden.
Responsibilities
- Influence the roadmap and drive your own career objectives.
- Work with your team to deliver new features and iterate based on results.
- Drive projects from ideation through to production and operations.
- Embrace and contribute to open-source projects beyond your immediate team scope.
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, owning reliability, performance, and availability.
- Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you run.
- Mentor and support other team members and participate in design discussions.
- Learn and grow by gaining a deeper understanding of the cloud product and the codebase of a large distributed system.
Recent example projects in the Alerting domain:
- Build distributed systems to scale alert ingestion and delivery of Prometheus-based alerts.
- Unify Alerting setup and delivery to work the same for Grafana and Prometheus-based alerts.
- Build distributed systems to scale alert evaluation of Grafana-managed alerts (reaching over 500 evaluations per second in production).
Requirements
- Motivated self-starter with a bias towards action and strong communication skills for remote work.
- Customer-focused and pragmatic: able to break down complex challenges and iterate quickly (MVPs, gather feedback, improve).
- Solid experience with at least one programming language. Grafana uses Go, and familiarity with Python, Java, C++, Rust or similar translates well.
- Some experience delivering projects end-to-end, from requirements through shipping to customers.
- Experience developing software that runs in the Cloud OR experience with systems engineering.
- Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software that is maintainable by others.
- Willingness to participate in on-call and operational responsibilities.

- Sweden compensation range for this role: SEK 878,578 - SEK 1,054,294 (actual compensation varies by level, experience, and skillset).
