Grafana Labs is the company behind the open observability cloud. Grafana Cloud is a fully managed observability platform built for scale. The Grafana Alerting squad operates at the core of the Grafana open-source project and its mission is to provide comprehensive alert management for users, both on-premises and in Cloud. The team focuses on building distributed systems to ingest, evaluate, and deliver alerts at scale and works closely with customers and Grafana Cloud teams.
Responsibilities
- Influence roadmap and define career objectives related to Alerting
- Deliver new features with iterative improvements based on results
- Drive projects from ideation through to operations and customer delivery
- Contribute to and embrace open-source culture, including contributions beyond the team’s immediate scope
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, owning reliability, performance, and availability
- Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of running services
- Mentor and support other team members; take part in design discussions and team collaboration
- Learn and gain deeper understanding of the cloud product and large distributed system codebases
Projects referenced as examples of work:
- Building distributed systems to scale alert ingestion and delivery of Prometheus-based alerts
- Unifying alert setup and delivery for Grafana and Prometheus-based alerts
- Scaling alert evaluation for Grafana-managed alerts (e.g., >500 evaluations/sec in production)
Requirements
- Motivated self-starter with a bias toward action and strong communication skills for a remote-first environment
- Customer-focused with a passion for creating intuitive products
- Pragmatic approach: break down complex challenges, deliver MVPs, gather data and iterate
- Solid experience with at least one programming language. Grafana uses Go; familiarity with Python, Java, C++, Rust or similar is transferable
- Experience delivering projects end-to-end (requirements, design, shipping to customers) in a self-driven manner
- Experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or experience in systems engineering
- Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software
Compensation & Rewards
- UK compensation range: GBP 103,958 - GBP 124,750 (country-specific; actual compensation may vary by level, experience, and skillset)
- All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
