  • Tune and optimize data systems and ML models.
  • Build strong partnerships with engineering teams.
  • Influence long-term data strategies and technical directions.
  • Mentor and coach data engineering team members.

Requirements

  • 9+ years industry experience with relevant degrees or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with distributed data platforms (Spark, Kafka, Flink, HBase) handling petabyte-scale data.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Scala, or Python and expertise in SQL.
  • Proven ability to design, productionize, and optimize batch and real-time pipelines.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills focused on data quality and governance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Expertise in data modeling, warehousing, relational and columnar databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Experience integrating ML models into products preferred.
  • Leadership and mentorship capability.
  • Flexibility and innovation in adopting new technologies.

Location

  • US Remote Eligible; must reside in a state where Airbnb has a registered entity.
  • Occasional office or offsite attendance may be required.

Benefits

  • Base pay range: $204,000 - $255,000 USD depending on experience and other factors.
