Role overview

As a Staff Product Designer, you’ll lead design for cross-cutting platform experiences β€” the foundational elements that touch every workflow regardless of stage. This project-based role starts with Knowledge Graph and focuses on solving persistent problems that span organizational boundaries and require a holistic view of the product. You will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and designers across stages to translate ambiguity into clear direction, define solutions, and ship work that improves the experience for developers and DevSecOps teams. Staff designers also contribute to the Pajamas Design System and mentor other designers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design for cross-cutting platform features and workflows that impact users across the product.
  • Define tactical deliverables for immediate user problems and strategic outputs aligned with long-term platform vision.
  • Coordinate across multiple groups to align on platform-level experiences; work closely with Product Managers and Engineering Managers to shape priorities and scope MVCs.
  • Maintain design intent through development and raise the quality bar via interaction design, visual design, and systems thinking.
  • Contribute to the Pajamas design system by identifying reusable patterns, proposing components, and ensuring adherence to system standards.
  • Mentor Product Designers and Senior Product Designers via pairing, design critiques, and knowledge sharing; help onboard new team members.
  • Ground work in research: conduct usability studies, competitor evaluations, and formative research; collaborate with UX Research on problem validation and incorporate insights.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to lead design on complex, ambiguous projects requiring significant cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong portfolio showing end-to-end product design work from problem framing through shipped solutions.
  • Experience mentoring designers and elevating team craft.
  • Proficiency with Figma and prototyping tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to present work, articulate rationale, and facilitate alignment.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Product Management and Engineering.
  • Systems thinking and experience contributing to or working with design systems.
  • Familiarity with developer tools, DevSecOps, or technical B2B products is a plus.
