The Platform Product Group engineers work on building a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform enabling Coinbase operations with speed, efficiency, and quality. This group includes Product Foundations teams such as Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory, Finhub, Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure.

The Risk Platform team builds scalable, intelligent, and resilient systems that proactively identify, assess and mitigate risks to protect customers’ assets and prevent fraud. This strategic role is key to Coinbase's goal of becoming the most trusted and easiest to use platform.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop distributed backend systems
• Provide technical guidance and structure to teams
• Collaborate with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
• Mentor and train team members on design and coding standards
• Design and implement foundational infrastructure components (e.g., dynamic configuration, secrets storage, container orchestration)
• Write high quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Proven ability to architect and develop solutions for ambiguous, high impact problems
• Passion for building an open financial system that connects the world

Nice to Haves

• Experience with financial, high reliability, or security systems
• Exposure to online fraud prevention systems
• Experience in scaling engineering teams rapidly
• Experience decomposing monolithic applications into microservices
• Familiarity with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres
• Crypto-related knowledge including onchain interactions (Ethereum, ENS, dApps, blockchain services)
