Details
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. The Product Engineering org is hiring experienced full‑stack engineers to join teams owning current or emergent products (Claude.ai, the Anthropic API, enterprise deployments, Claude Code, and mission-driven applications). Engineers will partner with engineering managers, product leaders, designers, and researchers to turn new model capabilities into polished user experiences and carry end-to-end ownership across performance, accessibility, reliability, and developer experience.
Responsibilities
- Build and own full-stack user-facing products and platform tooling across teams, including console, SDKs, docs, observability, and developer experience.
- Translate model capabilities into product experiences for consumers and enterprise users (plugins, skills, shared organizational context, and vertical AI products for Financial Services, Healthcare, and Legal).
- Develop enterprise-grade systems: user & permissions management, security & compliance features, analytics and infrastructure that enable large-scale deployments.
- Work on Beneficial Deployments to bring Claude to nonprofits, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, life sciences, and economic mobility initiatives.
- Drive growth-related engineering: user acquisition, engagement, retention, monetization, experimentation, and data-driven product iteration.
- Establish engineering standards, component architectures, development best practices, and mentor peers across teams.
Requirements
- 8–10+ years of practical full-stack engineering experience, with ideally 2+ years operating at a Staff or equivalent technical leadership level.
- Demonstrated track record designing and delivering complex consumer or B2B user-facing products across the full stack.
- Technical expertise in modern frontend and backend development, with demonstrated depth in languages/frameworks such as React and TypeScript.
- Product-focused mindset: build robust, scalable, easy-to-use solutions, with emphasis on performance, accessibility, reliability, and developer experience.
- Experience working in fast-moving environments and ideally building products from 0 to 1.
- Strong mentorship skills and experience driving cross-team alignment to ship impactful work.
- Experience establishing engineering standards and component architectures.
Additional qualifications (strong candidates may also)
- Experience with React and frontend frameworks.
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or building AI-native product features and an intuition for reliability vs. guardrails.
- Experience building developer-facing products, APIs, or tooling with a strong developer experience focus.
- Experience with growth, activation, experimentation (A/B testing, funnel analysis) and data-driven iteration.
- Domain experience in regulated or mission-critical contexts (enterprise, healthcare, legal, financial services, or accessibility-focused products).
Logistics
- Location(s): San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; Seattle, WA (United States). Preference given to candidates based in NY, NJ, Seattle, San Francisco, or the Bay Area.
- Location-based hybrid policy: staff expected to be in one of Anthropic’s offices at least ~25% of the time.
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience in a relevant field.
- Minimum years of experience: will correlate with internal job level requirements.
- Visa sponsorship: Anthropic states they sponsor visas and retain an immigration lawyer to help, though sponsorship success is not guaranteed for every role/candidate.
- Deadline to apply: none; applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
Compensation
- Annual salary range: $405,000 - $485,000 USD.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office collaboration space.
