The Platform organization builds foundational primitives that accelerate product development across Anthropic and owns infrastructure and systems used by internal teams and hundreds of thousands of external users and companies.

Responsibilities

• Architect, scope, and deliver complex, multi-month platform projects that improve developer productivity and reliability across the company.
• Platform Acceleration: design and optimize development infrastructure (dev environments, observability, CI/CD pipelines) to remove friction in product teams' workflows.
• Service Infrastructure: build and maintain core infrastructure such as service mesh, observability systems, deployment pipelines, and shared libraries enabling reliable services at scale.
• Multicloud: build cloud-agnostic tooling, cross-cloud networking, and multi-region deployments to enable Anthropic to operate across multiple cloud providers.
• Auth & Identity: design and operate identity/authentication systems, including authentication, authorization, role-based access control, and single sign-on; collaborate with security, support, and trust & safety.
• Connectivity: own proxy infrastructure (MCP proxy), OAuth and token management, and contribute to the MCP spec and official SDKs (Python and TypeScript). Solve token refresh at scale, admin controls, and proxy reliability for external integrations.
• API Distributability: help transform the Claude API into a cloud-native, managed product that can run cross-cloud and on Anthropic infrastructure with enterprise-grade security, compliance, and operational capabilities.
• Platform Intelligence: build training systems and production ML pipelines for task-specific adaptation of Claude, working with research on training methods and agent platform teams on data paths.
• Drive cross-org alignment, make architectural decisions, and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of practical full-stack engineering experience, with 2+ years operating at a Staff or equivalent technical leadership level.
• Experience leading the design and delivery of complex consumer or B2B user-facing products across the full stack.
• Technical depth in modern frontend and backend development (examples given: React, TypeScript).
• Product-focused approach: build solutions that are robust, scalable, and easy to use.
• Experience in fast-moving/startup-like environments and ideally building products from 0 to 1.
• Strong mentorship skills and experience driving cross-team / cross-org alignment to ship impactful work.
• Experience establishing engineering standards, component architectures, and development best practices.
• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in a relevant field.
• Minimum years of experience: will correlate with internal job level requirements.
• Location-based hybrid policy: staff expected to be in one of Anthropic’s offices at least 25% of the time (some roles may require more).
• Visa sponsorship: Anthropic states they sponsor visas and retain an immigration lawyer to assist when they make an offer.

Strong candidates may also have

• Served as a technical lead or architect for foundational platform systems, owning technical vision and execution end-to-end.
• Experience designing or scaling billing, payments, or financial infrastructure at high transaction volumes.
• Deep familiarity with containerization and secure execution environments.
• Built identity and access management systems (authentication, authorization, SSO, RBAC) at enterprise scale.
• Experience with ML/AI systems, LLM inference, model serving pipelines, or related infrastructure.
• Experience with multi-cloud deployments, cross-region architectures, or cloud-agnostic tooling.
• Experience designing and reviewing APIs with focus on developer experience, consistency, and reliability.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual salary range: $405,000 - $485,000 USD.
