Grafana Labs is the company behind the open observability cloud. Grafana Cloud is a fully managed observability platform built for scale, used by millions and thousands of customers. The company is 100% remote with team members across 40+ countries.
This is a remote opportunity and the company is particularly interested in applicants located in USA time zones (EST + CST highly preferred).
Responsibilities
- Work on the Platform SysEng squad focused on the maturity and scalability of the Internal Engineering Platform (IEP).
- Reduce new region build timelines and improve platform performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Contribute to cloud infrastructure and capacity management, security, engineering productivity, monitoring, and sustainability.
- Own the full lifecycle of code: design docs, development, integration testing, and operating your production services (including on-call rotations).
- Collaborate across teams to manage infrastructure used by services such as Grafana, Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and Pyroscope.
Requirements
- Proven delivery of large distributed systems and experience shipping and operating complex systems that span multiple teams.
- Demonstrable experience in system design, with a deep understanding of tradeoffs around latency, consistency, availability, scaling, and cost.
- Hands-on cloud and platform experience with cloud-native architectures (microservices, containers/Kubernetes, IaC) and operational practices.
- Reliability and performance ownership, including defining SLOs/SLIs, capacity planning, and tuning performance.
- Strong coding and design skills; the team mainly uses Go (Python/C/C++/Rust or similar translate well).
- Comfortable operating your code and participating in on-call rotations.
- Comfortable and curious about AI-assisted development and practical experience integrating AI-powered developer tools into team workflows is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence without authority in a remote-first environment.
Bonus Points
- Experience working in or on open source or community-based projects.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes scheduling and projects like Karpenter.
- Terraform and/or Crossplane experience.
- Experience with Tanka and/or Jsonnet.
Compensation & Rewards
- In the United States, the base compensation range for this role is USD 174,986 - USD 209,983. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset.
