As we grow to achieve that mission, we’re looking to add a technical, hands-on, and mission-driven Technical Program Manager (TPM) for the Community Support Engineering (CSE) team. This person will partner with CSE engineering, ops, and product teams to build and enhance decision making across multiple areas in Airbnb, and will partner closely with engineering leaders in CSE on processes, strategy, and execution.
Responsibilities
- Develop a portfolio view of CSE programs’ scope and objectives. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility and drive projects end-to-end.
- Lead planning, execution, and delivery of large cross-functional initiatives aimed at increasing the productivity of technical teams.
- Identify technical dependencies and align stakeholders on how to manage them for quarterly/half-yearly/bi-annual release planning, resourcing, and risk mitigation.
- Manage project schedules, identify risks, discuss technical trade-offs with engineers, and maintain clear communications across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Provide leaders with visibility into execution status, issues, decisions, and key performance indicators.
- Define and align on success criteria with stakeholders and regularly assess and mitigate risks.
- Partner with developer teams to develop and enforce high-quality internal documentation.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement best practices and align priorities across CSE.
- Drive process improvements, simplify operations, and build repeatable ways of working to increase productivity.
- Build trust within teams, inspire performance, and address impediments quickly and effectively.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in the software development industry with at least 7 years as a technical program manager.
- B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity: decompose vague problems, frame challenges, outline the big picture, and drive initiatives to completion.
- Self-motivated, proactive, adaptable, and able to work with teams having different operating cadences.
- Proven track record influencing others, strong analytical skills, and openness to feedback.
- Experience developing processes where little exists and demonstrated flexibility to get things done.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage blocking issues using technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in a highly cross-functional environment with strong communication across multiple groups.
- Excellent written and oral business communication and people skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Asana, Jira, or other equivalent task management tooling.
Nice to have:
- Experience developing or working directly on various aspects of large-scale ML/AI platforms.
- Experience with feature development of AI-powered product experiences.
- Experience and passion for building and maintaining products leveraging AI models.
Location
This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager. You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (some states are excluded). If employed by another Airbnb entity, your recruiter will inform you of eligible states.
Compensation & Care
- Pay Range: $200,000—$248,000 USD (base pay dependent on factors such as experience and market demands). This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
