Details

Bloomberg’s CTO Office is the future-looking technical and product arm of Bloomberg L.P. The Data Activation group, part of the Data & Analytics division in the Office of the CTO, is responsible for connecting Bloomberg’s data systems to customer outcomes. This pillar brings together data, AI, APIs, and developer experience to ensure Bloomberg’s data assets can be discovered, accessed, and activated. The role focuses on the API Platform and third-party developer experience, enabling external developers to discover Bloomberg APIs, sign up, authenticate, explore documentation, use SDKs, and integrate Bloomberg data into their applications across traditional APIs, protocol-based interfaces (including MCP), and AI-driven workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own product vision and strategy for Bloomberg’s API Platform and third-party developer experience (APIs, SDKs, documentation, onboarding, tooling).
  • Drive cohesive end-to-end developer journey: discovery, signup, authentication, experimentation, production usage, and long-term adoption.
  • Shape external developer strategy with engineering and business stakeholders to extend reach and impact of Bloomberg’s data platform.
  • Partner with engineering and business teams on API platform capabilities, standards, and evolution, including REST, streaming, protocol-based interfaces, and AI/agent integration patterns (e.g., MCP).
  • Collaborate with developer relations and technical writing to ensure documentation, samples, SDKs, and learning resources are intuitive and consistent.
  • Represent external developer needs and workflows across personas (application developers, quants, data scientists, AI practitioners).
  • Define and track developer platform success metrics: adoption, engagement, retention, time-to-first-value, integration quality.
  • Align with internal product and data teams to ensure APIs and tools expose data in usable, scalable, and commercially meaningful ways.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in API platforms, developer tooling, AI/ML integration, and platform monetization to inform strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in product management or related technical leadership roles, with significant experience in platform, API, or developer-focused products.
  • 5+ years of experience managing product teams and leading cross-disciplinary groups.
  • Proven experience launching and scaling API or data platform products serving developers, analysts, or AI/ML practitioners.
  • Strong understanding of developer workflows, including API design, authentication, SDKs, documentation, versioning, and platform lifecycle management.
  • Ability to translate complex data, infrastructure, and platform capabilities into intuitive developer experiences.
  • Customer-centric product thinking, strong product judgment, prioritization skills, and comfort operating with ambiguity in a strategy-heavy role.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to align technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in a technical or business-related field.
  • Experience building or scaling third-party developer ecosystems or platforms.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML platforms, agentic workflows, or data products exposed via APIs.
  • Background in software engineering, data engineering, or developer-facing technical roles.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of financial markets.
  • Curiosity about how APIs, data, and AI combine to enable developer-driven use cases.
