Details

The Data Center Infrastructure Specialist supports Bloomberg’s Network Engineering Operations Group, which manages the company’s global network infrastructure and colocation environments. The role focuses on ensuring data centers are scalable, reliable, and optimized for business needs, resource efficiency (space and power), and alignment with company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee 20+ colocation agreements across North America.
  • Manage capacity for 200+ racks and 1 MW of power.
  • Ensure data centers are scalable, reliable, and optimized for business needs and resource efficiency (space and power).
  • Monitor and report on infrastructure performance and capacity using industry-standard tools.
  • Develop and maintain standards and operational processes for Bloomberg’s 100+ global colocation data centers.
  • Manage and negotiate colocation contracts and RFPs across North America, ensuring alignment with Bloomberg’s standards, NDAs, and vendor risk policies.
  • Oversee supplier performance and compliance with technical, cost, schedule, and SLA obligations.
  • Drive procurement compliance, perform cost and price analyses, and meet negotiation cost targets.
  • Maintain contractual documentation and ensure alignment with internal procurement and risk management processes.
  • Manage colocation operations across multiple sites, optimizing space, power, and reliability.
  • Coordinate vendor and internal Network Operations procedures to ensure consistent service and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee MEP site surveys and ensure facility resiliency data is accurate in Bloomberg systems.
  • Integrate industry-standard analytical tools with proprietary systems to enhance capacity planning and utilization tracking.
  • Use DCIM and internal tools for data-driven reporting and operational optimization.
  • Lead data center buildout and expansion projects across AMER, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Partner with the Global Data Center Infrastructure Team to standardize procedures and implement global initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data center operations, ideally in colocation environments.
  • Proven expertise in vendor acquisition, contract negotiation, and performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of rack/cabling, power and space management, sustainability, and facilities systems (UPS, generators, cooling, AC/DC).
  • Proficient in ticketing systems, SLA tracking, and operations performance reporting.

Preferred Qualifications (Would love to see)

  • Data center certification (e.g., CDCMP) and experience managing large-scale environments (thousands of assets).
  • Skilled in data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, MySQL, Grafana, Splunk, Power BI, etc.).
  • Background in ITIL service management, Prince2 project management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, client management, and time management skills in dynamic environments.

Travel

Projects will require some travel to visit Data Centers, Colocation Sites and new builds around North America.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: 160000 - 215000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
