About the team
Stripe's Workplace team is responsible for delivering welcoming, functional and beautiful environments across the globe, and for ensuring that Stripe's real estate portfolio evolves to stay aligned with our mission and the needs of our users.
As a Workplace Environments Designer at Stripe, you will play a critical role in designing, evolving and iterating on our global portfolio of office spaces. In this role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to scale and shape Stripe’s future workspaces while working collaboratively with stakeholders from across the company.
The ideal candidate excels at working in a fast paced and dynamic environment without sacrificing the highest quality output. You have a growth mindset and can bring fresh design expressions and ideas to the team. You understand best practices for designing workplace settings, can hold your own in stakeholder reviews, and know how to drive work forward through layers of stakeholder alignment while maintaining energy and enthusiasm for the work.

Responsibilities
- Help us create amazing workplace environments at Stripe!
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and senior leadership to understand their needs and develop tailored workplace solutions.
- Maintain and update our Workplace Design Guidelines, incorporating insights from completed projects and pilots.
- Document processes for applying our workplace design guidelines and standards across a team of Project Managers, clearly defining design touchpoints and setting roles and responsibilities.
- Provide oversight and support throughout the workplace design process, guiding internal and external partners through initial schematic design, design development, material and FF&E selection through construction administration to ensure a consistent design language is applied across a global portfolio of offices.
- Balance creativity and flexibility in design within project budgets and timelines.
- Create design presentations for stakeholders, including visualizations and material selections when needed.
- Assist in selecting and implementing design tools and partnerships in support of rapid growth.
- Build strong vendor relationships in partnership with our Strategic Sourcing team to ensure they deliver best-in-class service and value to our team.
- Provide practical solutions to enhance occupancy, asset utilization, operational efficiency, and service delivery.
Who you are

Minimum requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree with a focus in architecture and/or interior design.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience with workplace programming and interior design, including materials, furniture, and artwork selection.
- Proficiency with architectural and engineering drawings, concepts, and the design process.
- Understanding of project processes and how design choices impact budget and schedule.
- Knowledge of integrating and coordinating MEP systems, lighting, air quality, and acoustics into workplace designs.
- Strong working knowledge of common design tools such as CAD, REVIT, Google suite, Adobe Creative Suite of tools, etc.
- Passion for researching workplace trends and translating them into design standards.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently on a global team while maintaining very high delivery standards.
- Excellent analytical skills for developing and communicating conclusions and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Deep empathy and commitment to customer service.
- Willingness to take initiative and actively contribute to projects.
- Exceptional communication skills to convey Stripe's design ethos effectively with internal and external partners.
- Strong vendor and contract management skills.
- A strong desire to create incredible workplace experiences for our users through thoughtful environmental design.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with supporting the delivery of quick turnaround offices, preferably at a rapidly growing tech firm to support expansion into new regions via traditional tenant improvement projects or in partnership with flexible office providers
- Hospitality, restaurant and/or retail design experience
- Land use and/or city planning experience
- Facilities/operations management experience
- Experience working with CAFM software, space management systems, and design databases.
- Commercial kitchen and food service programming, design and construction experience
- Experience designing and constructing spaces with a focus on IEQ, wellness and sustainability (professional credentials related these disciplines a bonus)

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.
Pay and benefits
The annual US base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $180,000. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
