To achieve our mission, Coinbase is seeking an AI Growth Lead (individual contributor) to drive AI adoption across the company by partnering with non-engineering functions via AI Growth Pods. The role is the AI Automation DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) for assigned pods and requires a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on technical ability, and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI opportunity discovery with non-engineering teams (Finance, HR, Legal, Operations, Marketing) to identify high-leverage AI automation use cases.
• Design and rapidly prototype AI solutions (e.g., AI agents, custom copilots, intelligent workflows) using LLMs and automation tools.
• Work with engineering and functional teams to evolve prototypes into scalable, production-grade AI solutions.
• Serve as an internal consultant and accelerator: mentor teams on AI capabilities, responsible AI usage, and prompt engineering best practices.
• Drive adoption and enablement by piloting solutions, gathering feedback, iterating on prototypes, and supporting early-stage rollout.
• Collaborate with central AI Platform and DevX teams to leverage infrastructure and ensure solutions meet scalability and security requirements.
• Partner with Security, Legal, and Compliance to ensure adherence to security, privacy, and ethical AI guidelines for sensitive or high-risk workflows.
• Define success metrics, track ROI with BizOps and functional leads, and communicate impact.
• Research and experiment with emerging AI models, tools, and best practices to bring cutting-edge solutions to Coinbase.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in a highly analytical, operational, or technical role, including at least 1+ years focused on applied AI, generative AI, or intelligent automation.
• Deep AI & automation expertise, including:
  • Strong understanding of LLM capabilities, limitations, and common architectures (e.g., RAG, agents, fine-tuning concepts).
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools and platforms (examples called out: enterprise LLMs like Gemini/Claude) and programming languages such as Python.
  • Experience with no-code/low-code automation platforms and rapid prototyping of working solutions.
• Exceptional business acumen: ability to translate complex business processes into technical requirements, quantify ROI, and drive value from technology initiatives.
• Strong consulting, communication, and stakeholder influence skills; experience driving adoption in a matrixed organization.
• Problem-solving agility: analytical, structured, comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration, able to manage parallel initiatives.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with legal, security, compliance, and engineering teams; understanding of data privacy, security, and ethical AI considerations.

Nice to Have

• Experience in BizOps, Data Science, Data Engineering, or Product Engineering with a focus on automation.
• Prior experience building or implementing AI agents or advanced workflow automation solutions.
• Active participation in the broader AI community (open-source contributions, conference presentations).
• Familiarity with financial services, crypto, or high-growth tech environments.

• Pay Range: $218,025 — $256,500 USD (target bonus + target equity + benefits also included in offers where applicable)
