Details

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. This role is part of an effort to make Coinbase an "AI-Native" company by 2028. As an AI Growth Lead (individual contributor), you will drive AI adoption across Coinbase by working within one or more AI Growth Pods — internal accelerators that partner with non-engineering functions (Finance, HR, Legal, Operations, Marketing) to identify, prototype, and scale high-impact AI automation solutions. You will serve as the AI Automation DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) for your assigned pods, owning initiatives from ideation to initial implementation and ensuring solutions deliver tangible ROI and enable broader AI adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Lead AI opportunity discovery by partnering with leaders and teams in non-engineering functions to understand workflows, identify pain points, and translate business challenges into actionable AI use cases.
  • Design and prototype AI solutions (e.g., AI agents, custom copilots, intelligent workflows) using AI/LLMs and automation tools; rapidly iterate on functional prototypes.
  • Deploy sustainable, production-grade solutions in collaboration with engineering and functional teams to ensure scalability, maintainability, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Act as an internal consultant and accelerator: mentor functional teams on AI capabilities, responsible AI usage, and prompt engineering best practices.
  • Drive adoption and enablement: pilot solutions, gather feedback, iterate on prototypes, and support early adoption to demonstrate value.
  • Collaborate with central AI Platform and DevX teams to leverage infrastructure, contribute to shared knowledge, and ensure security and scalability of solutions.
  • Ensure responsible AI practices by working with Security, Legal, and Compliance teams on privacy, security, and ethical guidelines for sensitive or high-risk workflows.
  • Measure and communicate impact: define success metrics with BizOps and functional leads, track ROI, and communicate value delivered by AI initiatives.
  • Research and experiment with emerging AI models, tools, and industry best practices to bring cutting-edge solutions to Coinbase.

Requirements

  • Experience: 8+ years in a highly analytical, operational, or technical role, with at least 1+ years focused on applied AI, Generative AI, or intelligent automation.
  • Deep AI & automation expertise:
    • Strong understanding of LLM capabilities, limitations, and common architectures (e.g., RAG, agents, fine-tuning concepts).
    • Hands-on experience with AI tools and platforms (examples named include enterprise LLMs like Gemini/Claude), no-code/low-code automation platforms, and programming languages like Python.
    • Proven ability to rapidly prototype and demonstrate working solutions.
  • Exceptional business acumen:
    • Ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into technical requirements and AI opportunities.
    • ROI-driven mindset with experience quantifying business value from technology initiatives.
    • Familiarity with financial services, crypto, or high-growth tech environments is a plus.
  • Consulting & influence skills:
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication; ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
    • Track record of influencing stakeholders and driving technology adoption in a matrixed organization.
    • Experience in change management or enablement is highly valued.
  • Problem-solving & agility: highly analytical, comfortable with ambiguity, able to manage multiple parallel initiatives and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaboration & risk awareness: experience working cross-functionally with legal, security, compliance, and engineering teams; strong understanding of data privacy, security, and ethical AI considerations.

Nice to have

  • Experience in BizOps, Data Science, Data Engineering, or Product Engineering roles with a focus on automation.
  • Prior experience building or implementing AI agents or advanced workflow automation solutions.
  • Active participation in the broader AI community (open-source contributions, conference presentations).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $217,900 — $217,900 CAD (target annual salary). Full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
  • Benefits listed include extended health care, dental, vision, virtual health care (Consult+), life & accident insurance, disability, ESPP, wellness stipend, mobile/internet reimbursement, connections stipend, learning & development allowance, employee assistance program, travel medical policy, fertility benefits, and generous time off/leave policy.
