OpenAI’s AI Success Engineer team partners with the world’s most ambitious organizations to translate cutting edge AI into real business value. The team guides customers from first deployment through scaled enterprise adoption across technical integration, workflow transformation, and sustained program and product delivery. This role supports government customers and sits at the center of that mission.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary post-sales technical point of contact for OpenAI’s government customers: drive account health, adoption velocity, and technical readiness across your portfolio.
- Set up, configure, and run API instances of OpenAI products; be an expert across OpenAI’s API and agentic platform, Codex, ChatGPT Enterprise, and related products.
- Train, educate, and enable ChatGPT users and broader teams to drive adoption and value; create custom GPTs, Agents, Connectors and demonstrate feature capabilities.
- Design and lead hands-on activities (workshops, hackathons, training) for audiences ranging from executives to front-line staff.
- Create content, playbooks, guides, reports, demos, and other collateral to help customers understand and master tools and features.
- Manage and execute structured, time-bound onboarding and deployment projects for government entities across multiple OpenAI products.
- Monitor, analyze, and drive activation metrics (DAU, WAU, MAU) and demonstrate measurable outcomes (production deployments, increased adoption, customer satisfaction).
- Embed with customer teams to identify and validate use cases by mapping workflows and understanding pain points.
- Coordinate account-level workstreams including product activation, change management, rollout and deployment planning.
- Build relationships with executive sponsors and technical stakeholders; translate objectives into actionable adoption roadmaps with milestones and KPIs.
- Partner with Sales, Solutions Architecture, Product, Engineering, and Research to surface customer feedback, field patterns, and technical blockers; act as a cross-functional navigator.
- Guide value realization via baselines, KPI definition, and post-deployment reporting; help drive expansions by identifying high-leverage opportunities.
- Manage and contribute to the ChatGPT Gov Community site and codify best practices, playbooks, guides, and FAQs tailored to public sector customers.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in technical customer-facing roles such as technical account management, technical GenAI consulting or deployment, solutions architecture, technical delivery leadership, or similar enterprise adoption roles.
- Deep, hands-on operational knowledge of OpenAI product capabilities, APIs, SDKs, connectors, and common integration patterns; ability to explain model behavior, limitations, technical tradeoffs, embeddings, retrieval augmentation, and approaches to fine-tuning or custom model usage.
- Practical experience with authentication and enterprise security concepts (SSO, domain verification, encryption) and familiarity with enterprise compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
- Understanding and familiarity with Python or JavaScript; comfortable with REST APIs, SDKs, automation, CI/CD, containers, and cloud platforms.
- Strong ability to translate technical concepts into clear business language and demonstrate strategic impact of AI technologies.
- Experience running change management programs and driving technical deployments with hands-on customer work in complex enterprise environments with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent project and program management instincts; ability to lead multi-workstream initiatives and manage fast decision-making and context switching.
- Strong public speaking and enablement skills; ability to connect with diverse audiences including senior leaders and frontline staff.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, Slack, and Salesforce; power-user and evangelist for ChatGPT.

- Base salary range: $186,000 – $265,500 (range may vary by location and candidate factors). Total compensation may include equity and performance-related bonuses where eligible.
