Team and role overview

This role is part of the Finance organization supporting Airbnb’s Global Operations and Engineering organizations, partnering closely with technical and engineering leaders across the company. The team manages a large line item on the P&L, enabling efficient innovation and growth by collaborating cross-functionally with product, engineering, and vendor management teams to drive financial rigor, optimize tooling and infrastructure costs, and support strategic decision-making.

The Analyst, Technology FP&A will work closely with Airbnb’s technical leadership to help Airbnb innovate and grow efficiently. Work includes running monthly financial reviews with engineering leaders, building models to understand technology costs, analyzing costs related to product changes, and running a best-in-class budget planning process. The role focuses on managing costs of many software tools and vendors across Airbnb’s platform, in addition to direct engineering workforce costs.

Responsibilities

• Develop trusted-advisor relationships with engineering teams; help product and infrastructure teams understand costs and efficiency opportunities.
• Manage engineering-related opex budget from a P&L perspective, covering software vendors, headcount, and contractors.
• Build, maintain, and continuously optimize financial models for budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and long-range planning.
• Deep-dive on vendor costs; identify unusual trends, analyze efficiency opportunities, and influence teams to optimize usage.
• Support procurement by analyzing price terms in negotiations with technology vendors to ensure best-in-class pricing and appropriate resource purchases while mitigating supplier risks.
• Run monthly financial reviews with engineering leaders and support strategic decision-making related to technology spend.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience working in FP&A, banking, consulting, or a related function.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; ability to translate complex concepts into clear financial models and executive presentations.
• Prior experience creating frameworks to understand key financial drivers despite complexity, lack of data, or limited processes.
• Genuine passion for technology and finance; ability to partner closely with technical and engineering leaders.
• Proficiency with financial forecasting systems (Hyperion) is a plus.

Location & work policy

• This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager.

Compensation & benefits

• Base pay range: $95,000—$112,000 USD. The actual base pay depends on factors such as training, transferable skills, experience, business needs, and market demands.
• This role may be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
