About the Team
The Finance Platform & Technology team at OpenAI builds and scales the systems and data architecture that power core financial operations. The team focuses on modernizing workflows through strategic integrations, scalable automation, and seamless data flows to enable business agility, compliance, and operational excellence across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, supply chain, financial planning, workforce management, and asset management.
About the Role
As an Anaplan Solutions Architect, you will be the primary owner of OpenAI's Anaplan platform, shaping its roadmap and driving its evolution to support a rapidly scaling business. You will design and maintain Anaplan models that power operating plans, workforce forecasts, and strategic decision-making; manage and optimize inbound and outbound data integrations; and work directly with stakeholders to triage bugs and intake enhancement requests. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of technology and finance, collaborating closely with Strategic Finance, Accounting, People, and other cross-functional partners.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. The team uses a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week. Relocation assistance is offered to new employees.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of Anaplan models for financial planning, workforce forecasting, budgeting, and long-range strategic modeling.
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable, well-structured models and system configurations.
- Partner with Strategic Finance, Accounting, and People teams to deliver enhancements that improve forecast accuracy and planning flexibility.
- Design and manage robust data pipelines and integrations between Anaplan, Oracle, Workday, and other enterprise systems, ensuring reliable data flow.
- Diagnose and resolve model and integration issues, including data mismatches, calculation errors, and performance bottlenecks.
- Implement governance, access controls, and metadata management to support security, audit readiness, and SOX compliance.
- Build and maintain scenario planning tools, driver-based models, and advanced analytics capabilities.
- Document model structures, integration architectures, operational runbooks, and technical processes.
- Support monthly forecasting, annual planning, and reporting cycles with accurate data, timely model updates, and technical expertise.
Requirements
- Significant hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining Anaplan models; completion of official Anaplan certifications (Model Builder, Solution Architect) is expected; Master Anaplanner certification strongly preferred.
- Proven experience designing and maintaining scalable planning models for forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning.
- Deep understanding of model architecture best practices, including driver-based planning, scenario modeling, and performance optimization techniques.
- Hands-on experience building and managing data pipelines and integrations between planning platforms and source systems (e.g., Oracle, Workday) using APIs, ETL, or iPaaS solutions.
- Strong grasp of accounting and finance principles, including budgeting, revenue forecasting, workforce planning, and multi-entity consolidation.
- Experience supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual planning cycles, including reconciliation and data validation.
- Exceptional documentation skills and ability to produce clear technical specifications and modeling standards.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements, security best practices, and audit readiness for planning systems.
- Track record of success in dynamic, high-growth environments and a curiosity-driven approach to technology and modeling techniques.
