Backend Engineer, Reddit Pro for Publishers

The Reddit Pro team empowers brands, publishers, organizations, and professionals to create engaging content and grow their presence on Reddit through advanced tooling and products. This role is high-impact and involves technical and product strategy as part of building a new product space.

Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute product and business strategy.
• Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Review code and design docs, give feedback on product specs and mocks.
• Participate with a team of engineers to contribute to standards that improve developer workflows and recommend best practices.
• Mentor engineers on the team to grow their technical expertise.
• Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes for backend development.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of coding experience in a production setting writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• 2+ years of industry experience designing large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as (but not limited to) Golang, Python, or Java.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, Thrift, or gRPC basics, and the ability to design and implement maintainable APIs.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with a track record of mentoring and developing junior engineers.
• Entrepreneurial spirit: self-directed, innovative, biased toward action in fast-paced environments, and comfortable with ambiguity.

Pay Transparency

• Base pay range for US-based candidates: $164,000 - $229,000 USD
• Role may also be eligible for equity (RSUs) and, depending on position, commission
• Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with employer match
