Information about the position

We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our team and support our new service, focusing on assisting Vinted sellers in maximizing their use of our platform and driving company growth. This directly supports our mission of making second-hand first choice worldwide.

As our new Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in creating our Golang-based micro-services, migrating logic from legacy systems, developing new features, maintaining existing ones, and collaborating with a team of engineers on other platforms to develop a scalable and reliable application.

By joining Vinted, you will become part of an active community of engineers who are eager to share knowledge, organize learning workshops, and engage in various other enriching activities.

In this position, you’ll

  • Collaborate within a cross-functional product team to design, build, and maintain features that elevate member satisfaction and optimize their experience on our platform.
  • Participate in pairing sessions, design deep dives, and code reviews with other developers. Partner with our senior engineers on system design, scalability, observability and reliability.
  • Witness the near-immediate impact of your code on over 100 million users.
  • Contribute to the development and establishment of new services, promoting greater team autonomy.
  • Utilize Kibana, Grafana, and other observability tools to monitor code effectiveness.
  • Play an active role in shaping the design and architecture of an emerging ecosystem from its early stages.
  • Contribute to a scalable, high-throughput, and reliable system within a microservice and event-driven architecture.
  • Support the company's growth to meet increasing market demands.
  • Maintain our systems and ensure software engineering is kept at its highest standards.

About you

  • Proven experience in software development and high-level programming languages.
  • Experience with the Go programming language is ideal; familiarity with Ruby on Rails is preferred.
  • Experience with object-oriented and asynchronous programming patterns.
  • Experience with SQL databases.
  • Experience with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar) is preferred.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, OpenTelemetry) is preferred.
  • Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD systems (e.g. ArgoCD, Jenkins).
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional growth.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.

The salary range for this position is € 3,558- € 4,808 gross per month.
