About the Team

The Enterprise Agents team is scaling OpenAI with OpenAI. We apply our latest models to real-world problems in order to assist with or automate work across the company — then share what we learn back to the broader product and research teams. The team has built an ecosystem of automation products applied across customer operations, workplace, and engineering. The team prototypes fast and builds for reliable long-term impact, prioritizing simple, generic patterns that can be applied across domains.

About the Role

We’re looking for engineers passionate about blending production-ready platform architecture with new technologies and paradigms. You will push the boundaries of OpenAI’s newest technologies to enable interactions and automations that are functional and delightful. Engineers should be proactive and customer-centric, getting foundational details right (data models, architecture, security) to enable great products.

This role is Hybrid (San Francisco primary, New York City secondary).

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end development lifecycle for new platform capabilities and integrations with other systems.
• Collaborate closely with product engineers and internal customers to understand problems and implement effective solutions.
• Work with the research team to share feedback and iterate on applying the latest models.
• Build reliable, production-ready platform components that prioritize good data models, security, and maintainable architecture.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional engineering experience (excluding internships) in relevant roles at tech and product-driven companies.
• Proficiency with JavaScript, React, and other web technologies.
• Proficiency with a backend language (the team uses Python).
• Some experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
• Interest in AI/ML (direct research experience not required).
• Proven ability to thrive in fast-growing, product-driven companies and to navigate loosely defined tasks and competing priorities.
• Experience building integrations and platform capabilities; attention to data models, architecture, and security.
• Former founders or early startup engineers who built products from scratch are a plus.

Benefits & Compensation

• Base pay range: $255,000 — $405,000 per year. Offers include equity; total compensation may include bonuses and other components.
