The ChatGPT team works across research, engineering, product, and design to bring OpenAI’s technology to the world. The team seeks to learn from deployment and broadly distribute the benefits of AI while ensuring responsible and safe use. This role is focused on driving growth for ChatGPT and ChatGPT Plus subscribers by optimizing account access, notifications, SEO, value discovery, and virality. The team values impact-driven, autonomous engineers who can derive insights from experiments and remove barriers to product value.

Responsibilities

• Drive long-term growth of ChatGPT through data analysis, product ideation, and experimentation to optimize product experiences and funnels.
• Partner with iOS, Android, and full-stack engineers to design and deliver integrated product experiences.
• Plan and deploy backend systems necessary to power growth-focused product experiences (e.g., landing pages, product pages, purchase flows, search flows, notifications).
• Execute projects closely with research, product, design, data science, and other product team members to land measurable impact on product goals.
• Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture that encourages radical candor and constructive challenge of group-think.

Requirements / Qualifications (implied from description)

• Experienced backend engineer with a track record of shipping features that optimize user funnels and product experiences (landing pages, purchase flows, search flows, etc.).
• Highly analytical with experience designing and implementing A/B tests and a scientific approach to data-driven experiments; ability to identify and track business metrics and KPIs and dive into data to derive insights.
• Comfortable working autonomously in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments; able to add structure when needed.
• Strong ability and desire to learn missing skills and to share knowledge clearly with others.
• Willingness to collaborate across disciplines including iOS, Android, full-stack, research, product, design, and data science.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base pay range (listed): $160,000 - $385,000 per year. Offers include equity and may include performance-related bonuses for eligible employees.
