This role is for an experienced C++ Chromium Engineer to join a small team building Comet — Perplexity’s new browser. The candidate will help design, build, and expand a Chromium-based browser with strong attention to performance, UI, and UX.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a performant Chromium-based browser used by millions of users.
  • Work closely with product teams to implement novel desktop and mobile experiences.
  • Collaborate with design teams to design fast and intuitive UI.
  • Collaborate with data science and machine learning teams to instrument, analyze, and improve the end-to-end experience.
  • Work with infrastructure and QA teams on deployment processes, including testing, release, and monitoring.

Requirements

  • 4+ years industry experience.
  • Expertise in the C++ Chromium codebase (desktop or mobile).
  • Enjoys building high-quality UI and creating a good UX; writes reusable code.
  • Understands how to manage performance and speed.
  • Comfortable working with a small, fast-moving team and willing to take ownership.
  • A passion for shipping.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Cash compensation range: $200,000 - $300,000 per year.
  • Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
