About the Role

As a Client Platform Engineer at OpenAI, you will secure, enhance, and maintain endpoint management infrastructure across macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android devices. You will build scalable, automated solutions for seamless deployments, advanced security configurations, and efficient operational workflows. The role emphasizes automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), GitOps-driven fleet management, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring across public clouds (Azure, AWS, GCP). You will work closely with IT, Security, and broader Engineering teams to implement modern endpoint management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, implement, and maintain scalable endpoint management infrastructure for macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android fleets.
  • Deliver endpoint management efficiencies via bespoke software development and integration of open-source and first-party tooling.
  • Employ Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) methodologies and develop GitOps-driven solutions for consensus-based fleet management.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for fleet management infrastructure, deploying to progressively tested environments across multiple clouds (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Drive adoption of emerging client platform engineering (CPE) technologies and industry best practices; optimize processes for scalability and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure excellent endpoint user experiences while maintaining high security standards.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in a modern programming language (examples listed: Python, Golang, Ruby).
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Jamf Pro and Microsoft Intune and familiarity with comparable cloud identity providers.
  • Demonstrated experience with open-source endpoint management tooling for configuration, mobile device management, application management, and telemetry (examples: Salt, Puppet, Munki, Nano/MicroMDM, osquery, Autopkg, WinGet).
  • History of developing and delivering secure, reliable, and scalable technology solutions.
  • Deep knowledge and experience managing corporate infrastructure at scale using IaC and GitOps workflows (examples: Terraform, Ansible, Chef).
  • Experience integrating and operating fleet management infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
  • Proven track record deploying and operating fleet management infrastructure in public cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

  • Deep experience with open-source fleet management tools and frameworks.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, and NIST.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCSP.

Compensation & Benefits Summary

  • Base salary range listed: $260,000 – $325,000 (base may vary depending on location, skills, and experience). Offers include equity and may include performance-related bonuses.
