OpenAI's Platform and Infrastructure Engineering organization delivers secure, scalable, and resilient solutions to support AGI deployment. The Client Platform Engineer will secure, enhance, and maintain endpoint management infrastructure across macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android, building automation, IaC, and monitoring to enable secure fleet operations and excellent employee experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, implement, and maintain scalable and performant endpoint management infrastructure for macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android endpoints.
- Deliver endpoint management efficiencies and capabilities through bespoke software development and integration of open-source and first-party tooling.
- Employ Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) methodologies and develop GitOps-driven solutions to manage fleet capabilities at scale.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for fleet management infrastructure, deploying to progressively tested environments across multiple clouds (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Drive adoption of emerging client platform engineering (CPE) technologies and industry best practices; optimize processes for scalability and operational efficiency.
- Partner with IT, Security, and Engineering teams to ensure secure and seamless endpoint user experiences.
Requirements
- Proficiency in a modern programming language (examples listed: Python, Golang, Ruby).
- Extensive hands-on experience with Jamf Pro and Microsoft Intune and familiarity with cloud identity providers.
- Experience with open-source endpoint and configuration management tools such as Salt, Puppet, Munki, Nano/MicroMDM, osquery, Autopkg, WinGet, or similar.
- Demonstrated track record of developing and delivering secure, reliable, and scalable technical solutions.
- Deep knowledge and experience with Infrastructure-as-Code practices and GitOps workflows (examples: Terraform, Ansible, Chef).
- Experience integrating and operating fleet management infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
- Proven experience deploying and operating infrastructure in public cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Deep experience contributing to or operating open-source fleet management tools and frameworks.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, and NIST.
- Strong stakeholder communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Relevant professional certifications (CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCSP).
- Contributions to CPE open-source projects or technical communities.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $260,000 - $325,000 (base pay may vary based on location, skills, and experience). Total compensation may include equity and performance-related bonuses where eligible.
