At Coinbase we seek a Compliance Lead Analyst (Compliance Operations) to conduct end-to-end Transaction Monitoring investigations, risk mining, and to test and provide feedback on compliance tools and detection models. You will work independently and with cross-functional teams to prioritize tasks, identify emerging risks, optimize compliance workflows, and ensure high-quality case investigations and documentation. In-person participation is required throughout the year for team and company offsites.
Responsibilities
- Analyze automated alerts and manual referrals from transaction monitoring systems with a focus on complex, interconnected cases.
- Conduct due diligence research and KYC reviews across internal and external tools to assess legitimacy and mitigate risks.
- Document findings and create written narratives to support case investigations; recommend case decisions consistent with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Act as a subject matter expert for new and existing Compliance Operations tools, processes, and future enhancements.
- Conduct UAT to test compliance tools, rules, detection models, automation, and UI enhancements; provide actionable feedback to technology teams on design and efficacy.
- Identify patterns or emerging risks and collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate, refine, and optimize compliance workflows, models, and procedures to improve efficiency, efficacy, and scalability.
- Remain current with industry standards and developments in KYC, BSA/AML, and OFAC; apply regulatory requirements and internal policies to investigations.
- Maintain detailed documentation to demonstrate compliance with regulations and internal policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in traditional financial services, crypto, or the tech industry, focused on TMS/EDD compliance investigations or regulatory matters.
- Experience analyzing alerts from transaction monitoring systems and performing KYC/EDD research.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and written/verbal communication skills; ability to document findings and draft investigation narratives.
- Experience working with Google apps (Google Workspace).
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal guidance and adapt in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
- Strategic and operational thinking with an eye to identify risks and opportunities early; creativity and problem-solving for unstructured challenges.
Nice to Haves
- Relevant experience in EDD and Transaction Monitoring workflows including SAR narrative drafting and filing.
- Experience in project management, data analytics, and/or third-party vendor management.
- Proficiency with business intelligence tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Experience with JIRA, Hummingbird, and Salesforce Service Cloud.
- Experience collaborating with internal, external, and outsource business partners.
- Professional certification in AML or Fraud (e.g., CAMS, CFCS, CFE).
- Advanced degree in business, finance, or customer experience (CX).
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: £55,620—£61,800 GBP (target annual salary). Full-time offers also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits including medical, dental, and vision.
