Responsibilities
- Design and refine quantitative threat-modelling algorithms for the Cyber Resilience Index (CRI) to identify and address vulnerabilities.
- Develop and enhance the Security Metrics Framework (SMF) by integrating new data sources and improving data quality.
- Generate statistical estimates for challenging security metrics and transform them into clear, data-driven decision-making tools.
- Analyse CRI and SMF outputs continuously to recommend and monitor high-ROI security strategies.
- Lead demos and hands-on workshops to educate stakeholders on evidence-based security solutions.
- Collaborate closely with the data engineering team to implement models into production pipelines and ensure quality through code and data model reviews.
Requirements
Must-Have Expertise
- 5+ years in cybersecurity with a strong focus on data science.
- Deep familiarity with cyber-threat & risk modelling frameworks: MITRE ATT&CK, D3FEND, CAPEC, CVE/CVSS, NIST, CIS Benchmarks and Microsoft Security Benchmark.
- Knowledge of modern EDR/XDR suites, ability to evaluate efficacy of controls and telemetry coverage.
- Experience or familiarity with the Microsoft Defender stack, Azure services, and network-security fundamentals.
- Statistical capability to produce reliable estimates for security metrics.
Certifications (valued but not mandatory)
- CISSP, GIAC/SANS (e.g., GDSA, GICSP) or similar.
Nice-to-Haves
- Hands-on experience with PowerBI, Databricks, and Detection Engineering tools.
- Quantitative analysis & statistics: confidence intervals, Monte-Carlo & Bayesian approaches.
- Data tooling: Python (data/ML stack), SQL and KQL; ability to wrangle large and dynamic data sets.
- Conceptual languages: ArchiMate.

- You will join the Cyber Insighters, a brand-new, diverse and international team (Product Owner, Data-Driven Cyber Security Analysts, Data Analysts, Developers) based in Amstelveen. English is the primary language in the team.
