Job Overview

The Global Data Quality team implements ING's Data Quality strategy globally, ensuring top-tier data standards. Data is one of the foundations of ING’s strategy to become one data-driven digital bank, where we need more granular data of high quality to manage the (customer-) processes, modeling, and decision-making. The Data Quality Expert will work with data owners, data stewards, operational teams, IT engineers and other functions within the bank.

They will drive the Data Quality definition, measurement and monitoring, analysis of data quality issues and propose data quality remediation actions within the bank, as well as contribute to build a culture of continuous improvement in Data Quality.

Responsibilities

  • Understand banking regulations and gather data quality functional requirements to define and create data quality rules or standards for identified critical data elements in coordination with data owners, data stewards and operational teams.
  • Work with IT engineers that will implement these data quality functional requirements in tooling. Support the development of Data Quality tooling through testing the data quality programs that have been developed against the functional requirements that were defined.
  • Track and monitor data quality indicators across the bank through data quality reports and dashboards in compliance with ING’s data quality framework.
  • Perform root cause analysis on prioritized data quality issues to determine appropriate fix forward and fix backward actions or remediation plans.
  • Work with key stakeholders to align expected turnaround times for remediation, gain approval for suggested remediation actions, coordinate the appropriate action with the teams that are responsible for executing those actions and monitor remediation actions till closure.
  • Participate in all related activities to accelerate the data quality remediation.

Requirements

  • Knowledge on Data Quality Management practices such as Data profiling, DQ Assessment, Data Cleansing, etc.
  • Ability to understand the business context and regulatory requirements in order to define data quality functional requirements and standards.
  • Experience with Data Quality related solutions.
  • Experience understanding data quality reports and dashboards and ability to effectively perform root-cause analysis of data quality issues.
  • Track record of developing solutions for remediating various data quality issues or a similar role requiring problem solving and stakeholder management.
  • Skilled in communicating complex topics and solutions and openness to ideas from others.
  • Ability to create appropriate data quality remediation plans and coordinate effectively to gain approval for execution.
  • Comfortable working in an international context.
