This Data Scientist role partners closely with Finance, Product, and Engineering to support cash flow processes (payments, cash reconciliations, asset safeguarding) by gathering financial data from platform sources, external financial institutions, market data, and internal financial systems. You will transform raw data into insights, develop advanced data models and pipelines, and deliver analytics that explain cash flows.

Responsibilities

• Work with Product and Engineering to drive new initiatives and support new product launches that fuel business growth.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Treasury, and other Finance functions to extract financial data and deliver data-driven recommendations to improve financial process efficiencies.
• Act as a strategic partner to functional teams: design and scope project plans; execute, test and implement data and reporting solutions.
• Initiate, develop, and maintain data pipelines and data models that power dashboards and data products with strong craftsmanship.
• Work with broader Data and Engineering teams to scale the platform through improved systems and automation.
• Develop interactive dashboards and visualizations to present financial insights to stakeholders.
• Partner with peers and stakeholders to define and execute roadmaps that help the function scale.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Self-starter, able to multitask, and highly collaborative with cross-functional teams.
• Strong experience with data processing (ETL) and fluency in complex SQL.
• High proficiency with a scripting language (preferably Python).
• Experience building data pipelines and using orchestration systems such as Apache Airflow.
• Strong understanding of core finance principles and familiarity with products within Accounting and Treasury domains; eagerness to learn.
• Ability to independently create documentation for new data projects and build collaboration within the team.
• Demonstrates Coinbase core cultural values: clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, ownership mentality, and efficient execution.
• Bachelor's degree in Financial Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Haves

• Previous experience working with financial services data.
• Prior working experience or knowledge of crypto.
• Domain experience in Payments, Accounting, and Finance.
• Experience with Looker, Tableau, or other BI platforms.
• Experience manipulating large amounts of structured and unstructured data.
• Ability to proactively manage prioritization of work.

Compensation & Pay Range

The target annual salary for this position: $154,000 — $154,000 CAD. Full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, etc.).
