The Data Scientist hired will be responsible for scoping, developing, validating, and documenting machine learning-based solutions which will form the core of products that INGA-WB develops for ING. This will also include carrying out world-class Research and Development where appropriate to arrive at a solution, as well as potentially guiding and mentoring more junior members and STAs or Masters students (though this person will not be a line manager).

Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop expertise in applying LLM, NLP, machine learning techniques for automated data extraction from documents, outlier and fraud detection, representation learning, entity resolution, and network & graph applications.
- Adopt best practices and quality standards for developing and deploying fit-for-purpose model pipelines according to ING model governance requirements.
- Be an effective member of a model development and implementation squad, challenge the status quo, and build what matters.
- Actively learn about the domain, engage stakeholders, and create compelling data stories to make the bank and society safer.

Requirements
- MSc or PhD with excellent academic results in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Econometrics, or similar.
- At least 2+ years of experience in Data Science including statistical modeling and machine learning for business questions and/or innovative data-driven products.
- Programming languages: Python is an advantage.
- Ability to explain complicated subjects clearly.
- Friendly, approachable with good humor and personality.
- Motivated to keep up to date with latest developments.
- Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms from classical econometric models to advanced neural networks, with the ability to match them to business problems.
- Team player balancing independence and teamwork.
