Mission

The Financial Crime and Prevention (FCP) organization in ING Bank Romania designs, builds, and runs technical and operational solutions to ensure safe and secure business operations, combating money laundering and preventing the financing of terrorism. The Data Scientist role is part of the KYC CoE team within FCP, focused on supporting the design and adoption of complex algorithms and models for data actualization, customer due diligence, and transaction monitoring workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Create basic machine learning algorithms and support development of complex algorithms identifying patterns in structured data.
  • Interpret advanced and predictive analytics data using specialized software tools.
  • Conduct research and analyze key themes and trends using primary data sources and business intelligence tools.
  • Monitor model performance, interpret results, and propose optimization solutions.
  • Ensure model documentation and compliance with governance and methodologies, maintaining data integrity per AML/CFT policies.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and internal clients to ensure data collection standards.
  • Participate in global projects aligned with bank strategic priorities.

Requirements

  • University degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Cybernetics.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Experience in model development or validation.
  • Tools: Python, SAS, Microsoft/Oracle SQL, Microsoft Package, Azure DevOps.
  • Understanding of banking market developments and AML/CFT regulations.
  • Ability to handle new challenges with urgency, energy, and enthusiasm.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to comprehend complex information.
  • Effective planning and prioritization aligned with organizational goals.
  • Excellent communication skills to gain support from others.
