This role sits on the Threat Intelligence team, which provides accurate and timely information on potential threats to Nord Security products. The team includes professionals from Data Science, Malware Research, Development, and Privacy who use feeds, heuristics, algorithms, and machine learning to protect users.
Location: Vilnius or Kaunas, Lithuania — hybrid. Employment type: Full Time.
Responsibilities
- Design solutions to problems while researching, debugging, and analyzing data using different data sources.
- Create scalable and reliable code, and write documentation for components you contribute to or explore.
- Research, develop, and deliver data science solutions to production.
- Develop custom ML metrics to help monitor model performance.
- Analyze validation/testing results, explain them, and improve model design accordingly.
- Plan deliverables with team members.
- Participate in code reviews.
- Maintain constant communication about progress.
- Mentor colleagues and share knowledge.
- Suggest improvements to current solutions.
Requirements
- Proven experience in data science and/or mathematical modeling.
- Solid knowledge of statistics (examples listed: Monte Carlo methods, hypothesis testing, bootstrap, Bayesian inference).
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with machine learning algorithms (examples listed: linear regression, random forest, gradient boosted trees, neural networks, k-means, LLMs, etc.).
- Proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with the PyData stack (examples listed: Pandas, NumPy, matplotlib) for analytics/machine learning.
- Excellent problem-solving skills (researching, debugging, instrumentation).
- Ability to break down and prioritize work and make informed decisions about tools and algorithms for specific problems.
- Team-driven mentality, collaboration skills, and ownership.
- Willingness to explore, grow, and mentor others while keeping up with the latest innovations in data science.
Salary
- Monthly gross salary from 3,500–6,800 EUR (approximately 42,000–81,600 EUR per year).
