Are you passionate about revolutionizing payment systems and streamlining processes in a critical business chain? At ROM Studios, we are seeking a skilled DevOps / Test Automation Engineer to join our team. If you have a strong background in functional testing and test automation, and a drive to improve systems and processes, we want to hear from you!

Tribe Account & Payment Factory

The Tribe Account & Payment Factory is responsible for payment and current account processing and related services. In the area of Transaction Processing, we deliver fast, reliable, and efficient transaction processing 24/7. To ensure that our services are always available, we are renewing the payment factory, simplifying our payment landscape, decommissioning legacy systems, and migrating to a new tech stack. High service availability is key. For a short impression of our Tribe, have a look at this video.

Your Role

Within the area of Transaction Processing, ROM Studios is committed to excellence. Our ROM Studios squad provides clean and efficient batch payments—including SEPA, INSTANT, Cross-Border, and Multibank transactions—to various payment engines. We serve our business customers through multiple channels, all within the AWS Cloud.

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer with a focus on testing and test automation to join our ROM Studios squad. Your main goal will be to continuously improve payments and processes, ensuring the continuity of this critical payment chain. We develop our Java applications in the AWS Cloud. You will work closely with the ROM Batch on-prem team, focusing on developing and migrating on-prem applications to the AWS Cloud over the coming years. You can perform under pressure and work in an Agile/Scrum environment using continuous integration, deployment, and delivery flows, with attention to continuous availability and high-performance requirements.

Responsibilities

As the Test Expert within our squad, you will ensure that the test strategy aligns with the goals of the bank and the team. You will be actively involved in functional testing of the application and coordinating/executing tests with other parties in the critical product chain. Additionally, you will work on setting up and maintaining a testing framework.

  • Functional Testing: Perform functional testing activities and maintain test tooling, environments, and test sets.
  • Application Monitoring: Ensure continuity of a critical application in the payment landscape. Monitor the application and analyze & resolve production issues (e.g., ad hoc requests from colleagues, business, and other applications in the chain; analyzing logs; making queries, etc.).
  • Product Backlog: Create Product Backlog Items and provide input for the Product Owner and Tech Lead.
  • Change Processes: Provide operational requirements and safeguard operability, maintainability, robustness, and performance.

You and your talent

  • 3–5 years of experience in a DevOps / Test Automation Engineer role
  • AWS knowledge
  • Experience in mission-critical, high-availability banking IT environments
  • Knowledge of payment processes and products (preferably SEPA, INSTANT, Cross-Border payments), and payment solutions. Experience with high-volume transactions, high-value payments, and 24x7 services
  • A T-shaped professional profile (analysis, development, and testing)
  • Experience with multiple testing frameworks and the ability to set up a new testing framework
  • Familiarity with Agile ways of working (SAFe, Scrum)
  • Professional proficiency in English is essential for effective communication within a global team
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

It is an advantage if:
