Details

Sentry is on a mission to help developers write better software faster by building performance and error monitoring tools used by companies like Disney, Microsoft, and Atlassian. This role sits on the Developer Experience team within Marketing and is a hybrid position based out of Sentry's San Francisco headquarters. Sentry embraces a hybrid model with Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays set as in-office anchor days.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and shape the docs platform to define and answer the question “what does great developer documentation look like.”
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to test and ship new features; be hands-on in solving integration and developer experience problems.
  • Build technical content (tutorials, videos, blog series, etc.) that excites developers to use Sentry.
  • Attend and host developer community events and meetups; build and grow community organically.
  • Gather user insights from developer communities and feedback channels and translate them into product and content opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Design, Sales Engineering, Business Ops, and Marketing (Comms, Product Marketing) to develop product narratives and educational materials.
  • Propose product solutions, identify content/execution plans and partners, and drive execution end-to-end.

Requirements

  • 5+ years as a developer and 3+ years in an advocacy or educational role such as developer relations/evangelism, creating technical content, or leading developer communities.
  • 3+ examples of technical educational content aimed at professional developers (e.g., tutorials, video series, blog series, or course).
  • At least one example of your own dedicated blog, forum, or site with a developer-focused audience and ability to describe how success was measured and promoted.
  • At least one project using a common modern development language or framework (JavaScript/frameworks referenced explicitly).
  • Active participation and contribution to technical communities on platforms such as Discord, Stack Overflow, Reddit, Twitter, or TikTok.
  • Ability to prioritize competing opportunities and balance customer needs versus business priorities.
  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills.
  • A down-to-earth attitude, humility, and a dry sense of humor are a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The base salary range that Sentry reasonably expects to pay for this position is $150,000 to $190,000. The actual base salary will be determined by factors including work location, education, experience, skills, and job-related knowledge.
  • A successful candidate will be eligible to participate in Sentry’s employee benefit plans/programs applicable to the position (including incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage). See Sentry Benefits for more details: https://sentry.io/careers/
