NVIDIA is developing accelerated platforms and technologies for 6G Radio Access Network (RAN) with a focus on AI for RAN using Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques to deliver improved performance and spectral efficiency. The team explores new 6G use cases such as Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) and Semantic Communications. This role is for a senior technologist to serve as 6G Chief Architect / Distinguished Engineer to lead next-generation 6G architecture efforts.
Responsibilities
- Seek and apply AI/ML approaches into Radio Access Network (RAN) for 6G.
- Rapid prototyping of new algorithms to establish value proposition and benefits on GPU-accelerated platforms.
- Work with industry ecosystem and customers to rapidly drive innovations into deployable products and solutions.
- Engage with industry standards and consortiums (AI-RAN, O-RAN, 3GPP) for an AI-native approach to 6G.
- Explore new 6G use cases such as Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) and Semantic Communications.
- Drive system architecture, requirements, design, development, and performance optimizations for AI-for-RAN software stack.
- Identify, pathfind, and drive new acceleration technologies into next-generation NVIDIA hardware.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 20+ years of proven industry experience.
- Deep technical knowledge of communication systems, communication theory, linear algebra, detection and estimation theory, baseband signal processing algorithms, and channel coding.
- Expertise in architecting and developing RAN applications and proven expertise in system-level optimizations.
- Proven experience in 5G NR PHY/L1 and L2 MAC-scheduler algorithm design and development.
- Proven experience in applying AI techniques into RAN (L1, L2+) pipelines.
- Solid foundation in statistical analysis and strong understanding of the mathematics behind RAN algorithms.
- Strong hands-on experience with programming languages such as Python, C/C++, and Matlab.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: 308,000 USD - 471,500 USD (determined based on location, experience, and pay of employees in similar positions).
