Responsibilities

You will join an international team who is responsible for ING’s Global WAN infrastructure. The GWAN & NS (Global Wide Area Network & Network Services) squad is the linking pin between internal international consumers and the external network infrastructure supplier, in addition to the several other network services. The Network Designer is part of the squad responsible for the implementation and operation of the GWAN. You will innovate and participate in agile work processes such as stand-ups, sprint reviews, and planning. Together with the Product Owner, the team (Squad) works on common goals and a shared backlog. You will take care of all reporting and guide the squad in the right direction to improve the services and satisfaction. You are not shy in supporting the other squads within the area and our tribe. You feel comfortable in a role as trusted advisor. We use video and collaboration tools to facilitate the communication process.

Requirements

You recognize yourself in this profile (Competencies):

  • You have experience in implementing, configuring, and changing network infrastructure.
  • You are able to develop and challenge network designs on technical implementation and security aspects.
  • You are pro-active and are verbally and writing competent in the English language.

Competencies – Skills

  • You have broad knowledge of WAN and Cloud WAN environments with CCNP level or comparable.
  • Broad experience with (routing and switching) protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, STP etc.) in a mainly Cisco-oriented, highly available, legacy and SDWAN environments.
  • Hands-on experience on Cloud WAN, SD-WAN, global network backbone, multi-availability zone deployment implementations in large enterprise and/or service providers.
  • Knowledge and experience with Firewall products, load balancing, and broad experience with network management tools like Cisco ACS and/or monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Telegraf etc.
  • Scripting in Perl or Python and API/automation-oriented mind-set with hands-on experience.
  • You can manage (monitor, evaluate, continuously improve) Incident, Problem, Change and Configuration Management processes implemented in ING and contractually agreed with our Network Service Provider.
  • Leading, supervising and being on top of the Network/Cloud Service Provider to drive them to the solutions while ensuring the availability and performance of the network, providing efficient inputs/outputs while developing, testing, deploying and maintaining solutions in production.
  • Technical implications of Security and Risk principles.
  • Clear understanding of consumer context and needs, as well as the value-add of your service to the consumer.
  • Understanding of the Scrum methodology (e.g. backlog and sprint planning, review, and marketplace).

Your education and background

  • Professional and intellectual IT ability at least a bachelor’s degree.
  • Certifications or proven proficiency in Networking and Security.
  • Certifications or proven proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
