Role overview
Saily is in hypergrowth and is hiring Engineering Managers to help build self-sufficient, product-centric, cross-functional teams. You will lead and manage cross-functional engineering teams (backend, mobile, product engineers) of ~10–25 engineers across up to 4 cross-functional teams depending on seniority. This is a leadership role that requires strong people management, coaching, and the ability to drive execution and collaboration across Product Owners, Project Leads and Staff Engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage cross-functional engineering teams (backend, mobile, product engineers): 10–25 engineers across up to 4 cross-functional teams.
- Own people management: professional development, performance reviews, conflict resolution, wellbeing and onboarding.
- Hire new engineers (experienced or high potential) without compromising culture.
- Build, scale, and coach teams in a fast-evolving engineering organization.
- Ensure strong execution, ownership, and accountability across teams.
- Improve processes, workflows, and collaboration.
- Identify people and team performance issues early and resolve them pragmatically.
- Drive team structure and culture improvements as the organization evolves.
- Act as the connecting glue between Teams, Project Leads, Product Owners and Staff Engineers — ensuring everyone has the necessary context and is enabled to move forward.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership; challenge ideas, give feedback upward, and influence strategy.
- Function as a strong, independent voice in leadership discussions and act as a role model for discipline, accountability, and ownership.
- Work from the Vilnius or Warsaw office and set a visible leadership presence.
Requirements
- At least 2–3 years of experience leading a team of software engineers.
- Solid software development background; able to understand system logic (you’re not expected to write production code regularly, but must grasp architecture and engineering trade-offs).
- Experience in or desire to develop understanding of the mobile applications domain.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full SDLC, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Openness to collaborate and mentor team members and share practical knowledge and industry trends.
- Team-spirited, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to propose cross-platform solutions and be proactive in developing innovative solutions while tracking teams’ metrics.
Salary
- Gross salary: 5000 - 8600 EUR / Month
Location & office policy
- Work from the Vilnius or Warsaw office; workplace type: hybrid.
About the team
- You will join Saily’s engineering leadership as the company scales (Saily plans to hire broadly across engineering in 2026). You will be expected to form and shepherd product-centric teams and help them achieve high performance.
