Role Mission
The mission of the Platform Product Group engineers is to build a trusted, scalable and compliant platform to operate with speed, efficiency and quality. Our teams build and maintain the platforms critical to the existence of Coinbase. Teams in this group include Product Foundations (Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory, Finhub), Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure.
The Payment team is diligently crafting innovative payment solutions aimed at empowering both individual consumers and large-scale institutions within the cryptocurrency ecosystem. They develop state-of-the-art payment infrastructures and experiences, along with unique payment products, facilitating the seamless transition of traditional currency into the crypto landscape to enhance financial access. The payment solutions focus on simplicity and scalability to drive widespread adoption of crypto-centric products such as Decentralized Finance (DeFi), Decentralized Applications (DApps), and cryptocurrency exchanges.
Responsibilities
- Implement the multi-year strategy for Payments engineering with technical leadership.
- Coach direct reports to have a positive impact and chart fulfilling careers.
- Provide thoughtful technical guidance and support architectural decisions.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn vision into a quarterly roadmap.
- Partner with talent organization to recruit engineers who will expand Coinbase culture and product.
- Foster inclusive, positive, and energetic team meetings and interactions.
- Own and deliver processes to drive engineering quality and meet SLAs.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
- At least 2 years of engineering management experience.
- Strong understanding of high-quality code and effective engineering processes.
- Execution-focused mindset capable of navigating ambiguity and delivering results.
- Ability to balance long-term strategy and short-term planning.
- Experience creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenanted distributed systems at scale.
- Hands-on skills for writing/reviewing code, technical documentation, on-call rotations, incident leadership, and bug triage/troubleshooting.
- Passion for building an open financial system that unites the world.
Nice to Haves
- Experience building distributed systems/integrations.
- Background in retail, brokerage, or companies similar to Coinbase.
- Experience with large retailers processing payments.

Pay Range
The target annual salary for this position ranges from $218,025 to $256,500 CAD. Offers include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
