About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
Adaptive Pricing, one of Stripe's fastest-growing products, makes global selling easier for merchants by enabling them to localize prices in over 150 countries without currency complexities or foreign exchange risk. Our team combines deep technical expertise with a relentless focus on user experience to simplify cross-border commerce for merchants and their customers. We work in a fast-paced, high-impact environment, building scalable pricing infrastructure and innovative features in close collaboration with teams across Stripe.
What you’ll do
As an Engineering Manager on the Adaptive Pricing team, you will lead a group of talented engineers building the next generation of global payment experiences. You’ll work alongside technical leaders to set clear priorities, ensure engineering excellence, and cultivate a strong team culture. Your role involves coaching and developing engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability, and partnering closely with product, design, and leadership. This is a unique opportunity to lead a critical product area with significant business impact while mentoring engineers and shaping Stripe’s global payments future.
Responsibilities
- Guide your team in building robust, high-performance pricing and currency conversion products that drive Stripe’s global expansion strategy.
- Define and drive the roadmap and priorities for your team as the editor-in-chief of your team’s plans, collaborating with stakeholders across product, design, infrastructure, and marketing.
- Establish close feedback loops with customers and collaborate closely with partner teams.
- Foster a high level of technical excellence on the team, upholding high engineering standards and implementing best practices throughout your team.
- Supporting your team members' career growth by providing insights and development opportunities tailored to their goals.
- Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering management team.
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
- 4+ years of engineering management experience, directly managing and growing teams of 5+ engineers focused on building and shipping products at scale
- 8+ years of full time software development experience
- Experience building extensible, leveraged software solutions, with the ability to empathize with users and advocate for exceptional user experiences
- Technical acumen to engage thoughtfully with engineers around architecture and implementation decisions, serving as a force multiplier for the team
- A mindset of autonomy and entrepreneurship, where you're excited to take responsibility and drive initiatives forward
Preferred requirements
- Experience thriving in cross-functional environments, demonstrating rigorous thinking, effective decision-making, and ability to build strong cross-team relationships
- Background in financial product companies and interest in financial products and markets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for different audiences (leadership, users, company-wide)
- You have a strong product and design sense, and enjoy finding elegant solutions to complex problems
In-office expectations
Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site have an 80% in-office expectation, and those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.
Pay and benefits
The annual US base salary range for this role is $236,000 - $354,000. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
We look forward to hearing from you
