Engineering Manager - Ads Data Platform

Reddit is continuing to grow our teams with the best talent. This role offers flexibility and is remote-friendly; however, it is important that the candidate is based in proximity of the SF Bay Area office (Pacific time) or the New York City office (Eastern time).

The Ads Data Platform team's mission is to build a performant, reliable and efficient platform and end-user tools for the collection, storage, management, and analysis of Reddit Ads data to support data-intensive applications and data-driven decisions at scale. The team focuses on unification, centralization, and optimization of Ads data infrastructure, prioritizing scalability, reliability, efficiency, and alignment with Reddit core infrastructure and DevX best practices.

Responsibilities

• Coach, motivate, build, hire, and lead a world-class team of infrastructure engineers working on high-scale/high-performance data pipelines and storage systems.
• Lead, coordinate, and execute a prioritized infrastructure roadmap driven by business needs.
• Set and support a culture of data-informed decision making with efficient processes and strong transparency.
• Facilitate collaboration between product/vertical teams using Ads Infrastructure and partner/core platform teams across Reddit.
• Participate in design and code reviews, providing feedback to ensure quality, performance, and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team leads (EMs, PMs, DSs) to translate business requirements into technical directions for the Ads Infrastructure roadmap.

Requirements

• 8+ years of industry experience as a software engineer.
• 3+ years managing (coaching, mentoring, developing) engineering teams.
• 2+ years in the capacity of tech lead responsible for systems and architecture design.
• Experience with at least two general-purpose programming languages such as Python, Go, Scala, Java, or C++.
• Preferred experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Message queuing services (e.g., Kafka, Amazon Simple Queue Service)
  • Data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Apache Flink)
  • Key-value stores (e.g., Redis, DynamoDB, Memcached, Riak)
  • Document databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
  • Container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Mesos)
  • MLOps (e.g., MLflow, TensorFlow, Kubeflow)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with product managers, data scientists, and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing data-focused teams.
• Experience with Ads systems and infrastructure.
• Experience with Technical Program Management.
• Industry-relevant or scientific contributions in DevOps, infrastructure, high-scalability / big data systems.

Pay Transparency

• Base pay range (U.S.-based): $217,000 - $303,900 USD
• Role may be eligible for equity (RSUs) and, depending on position, commissions
