Team Information

The Asset Data Platform collects, normalizes, and serves asset metadata, real-time prices, and historical data at massive scale—ensuring customers see accurate, up-to-the-second information whether they are trading on Coinbase Exchange, exploring DeFi with Coinbase Wallet (TBA), or monitoring their portfolio performance. The platform powers hundreds of services at Coinbase and runs under extreme scale and scrutiny—every millisecond of accuracy and uptime matters.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage engineering teams to guide development of features, services, and infrastructure across web and mobile.
  • Coach direct reports, support career growth, and foster positive impact across the organization.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate vision into a quarterly roadmap; break down complex projects and lead iterative design and implementation.
  • Be a thoughtful technical voice within the team, aid in architectural decisions, and foster high-quality code and engineering processes.
  • Work closely with talent teams to identify and recruit exceptional engineers aligned with Coinbase's culture.
  • Contribute to and take ownership of processes that drive engineering quality and meet engineering SLAs.
  • Be hands-on when needed—writing/reviewing code or technical documents, participating in on-call rotations, leading incidents, and triaging/troubleshooting bugs.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years experience developing web apps and shipping user-facing features with JavaScript and modern, component-based JS frameworks like React.
  • Familiarity with current trends and best practices in front-end architecture, including performance, security, and usability.
  • At least 2 years of Engineering Manager experience managing front-end engineers.
  • Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with short-term planning.
  • Willingness and ability to be hands-on (code reviews, on-call, incident leadership, debugging).

Nice to Haves

  • Prior experience leading Developer Experience/Productivity, Platform, or similar domain teams.
  • Previous experience at a fast-paced, high-growth internet/software company.
  • Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
