Team Information
The Asset Data Platform is a highly visible, business-critical engineering platform. Joining the team means leading engineers who solve hard problems in distributed systems, scalability, and operational excellence while shaping the foundation of the global crypto economy.
While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year for team and company-wide offsites (attendance expected and fully supported).
Responsibilities
- Build and manage engineering teams to guide development of features, services, and infrastructure across web and mobile.
- Coach direct reports to increase their impact and support career growth.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate vision into quarterly roadmaps; break down complex projects into deliverable iterations.
- Serve as a thoughtful technical voice in the team, contribute to architectural decisions, and foster high-quality code and engineering processes.
- Work with talent org to recruit exceptional engineers aligned with Coinbase culture.
- Contribute to and take ownership of processes that drive engineering quality and meet engineering SLAs.
- Be hands-on when needed: write/review code or technical documents, participate in on-call rotations and incident response, and triage/troubleshoot production issues.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience developing web applications and shipping user-facing features with JavaScript and component-based frameworks like React.
- Familiarity with current trends and best practices in front-end architecture, including performance, security, and usability.
- At least 2 years of Engineering Manager experience managing front-end engineers.
- Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with short-term planning and execution.
- Willingness to be hands-on: code reviews, on-call rotations, incident leadership, and bug triage.
Nice to Haves
- Prior experience leading Developer Experience/Productivity, Platform, or similar domain teams.
- Previous experience at a fast-paced, high-growth internet/software company.
- Crypto-forward experience (onchain activity): interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
Compensation
- Target annual salary range: $218,025—$256,500 USD (full-time offers also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits which may include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
