The Client Products & Emerging Tech team was formed in 2023 with the mission to create innovative product frameworks and features that address common use cases for Airbnb's guests and hosts across multiple platforms, incorporating best practices and leveraging emerging technologies. The team works collaboratively with cross-functional partners in Design, Product Management, and other Engineering teams to quickly brainstorm, prototype, develop, and deliver high-quality product experiences. The team is part of the Product Foundation organization responsible for Airbnb’s product infrastructure including the Design Language System (DLS), UI frameworks, media frontend, and data access across Android, iOS, and Web. The team contributes to libraries such as Lottie and Epoxy and has enabled Airbnb’s transition to Jetpack Compose. The team is increasingly leveraging AI in tooling and product experiences.

Responsibilities

• Establish and communicate a vision for the Client Products & Emerging Tech team that drives innovative client product experiences.
• Explore, shape, and develop new product experiences from ideation to implementation at scale alongside design and product partners.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering stakeholders to identify and document requirements and plan feature delivery.
• Lead investments into new technical capabilities that enable product innovation and push technical boundaries.
• Collaborate with engineers to plan and sequence delivery, make trade-offs, and communicate delivery plans and successes.
• Partner with peer engineering teams to integrate new features across client platforms.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent, including technical leads; invest in one-on-one development and tailored career plans.
• Foster an inclusive team culture that emphasizes technical excellence, collaboration, innovation, reliability, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• 9+ years of industry experience with 5+ years of people management experience, including managing technical leads.
• Strong product and design instinct with proven experience building well-designed consumer experiences.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; experience influencing decisions across multiple stakeholder groups.
• Flexible leadership style able to adapt to different ways of working depending on the situation.
• Experience leading and delivering large initiatives with significant business impact.
• Commitment to operational excellence, quality, reliability, and availability.
• Success in developing teams to perform at their fullest potential.
• Past hands-on experience with iOS, Android, and/or Frontend Web UI development.
• Good judgment in making trade-offs to balance short-term needs with long-term technical quality.
• Experience fostering an inclusive and engaging team environment and identifying, retaining, and growing critical talent.

Location

• This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (some states are excluded). Offices: United States.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base pay range: $204,000—$255,000 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits. Actual base pay depends on factors such as experience, skills, and market demands.
