Role summary

As an Engineering Manager on the Production Engineering team you will lead efforts responsible for the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Sentry’s cloud infrastructure. The team owns compute, networking, and service orchestration across cloud environments, and focuses on infrastructure automation, cloud cost efficiency, operational maturity, reliability, compliance, and security. You will mentor engineers, set strategic direction, and maintain high standards for technical and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Grow and lead a team of Production Engineers, fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture and providing mentorship and career development.
  • Set strategic direction for infrastructure to anticipate scaling and operational needs.
  • Drive adoption of cloud-native patterns and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Define and deliver quarterly goals aligned with company and engineering priorities.
  • Partner with SRE and product engineering teams to improve system reliability and observability.
  • Champion operational excellence and accountability across infrastructure and platform systems.
  • Support the on-call and incident response process and act as part of the escalation path.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience in software engineering.
  • Ideally 2+ years of experience managing engineers or leading teams.
  • Experience with distributed systems in cloud environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
  • Proficiency with infrastructure tooling such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Salt, and Envoy.
  • Experience driving infrastructure-as-code, cloud-native patterns, and infrastructure automation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bonus: experience managing globally distributed teams and improving cloud cost efficiency.

Additional information

  • Full-time position based in Toronto, Canada. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • Sentry follows a hybrid in-office schedule with required anchor days (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays).
  • The base salary range Sentry reasonably expects to pay for this position is $206,000 to $267,000 CAD. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, experience, and skills.
