At Coinbase we are building the emerging onchain platform and the future global financial system. We are seeking an experienced engineering manager to lead one of our teams within the Consumer Product Group. The Consumer Product Group focuses on making the Coinbase retail app the easiest-to-use and fastest experience for accessing crypto. Products include the Coinbase app, advanced trade, dapps, and staking. Many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, but in-person participation is required throughout the year (team and company offsites). Full-time offers include target bonus, target equity, and benefits.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage full-stack engineering teams to guide the development of features, services, and infrastructure across both web and mobile.
- Coach direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and support their career growth.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate vision into a tangible quarterly roadmap; break down complex projects and lead iterative design and implementation.
- Serve as a thoughtful technical voice within the team, aiding in architectural decisions and fostering high-quality code and engineering processes.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
- Work with the talent organization to identify and recruit exceptional engineers who align with Coinbase's culture.
- Contribute to and own processes that drive engineering quality and meet engineering SLAs.
- Be hands-on when needed: writing/reviewing code or technical docs, participating in on-call rotations and incident response, triaging and troubleshooting bugs.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
- At least 2 years of engineering management experience.
- Strong understanding of high-quality code and effective software engineering processes.
- Execution-focused mindset; able to navigate ambiguity and deliver results.
- Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with short-term planning.
- Experience creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
- Comfortable being hands-on: code review, on-call rotations, incident leadership, troubleshooting.
- Passion for building an open financial system and belief in crypto and blockchain technology.
Nice to haves
- Crypto-forward experience: familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
- Answers to crypto-related questions may be used to evaluate onchain experience.
Pay & Additional Notes
- Pay Range: $217,800 — $217,800 CAD (target annual salary). Full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
