The Consumer Product Group focuses on making the Coinbase retail app the easiest-to-use and fastest experience for accessing crypto, with products including the Coinbase app, advanced trade, dapps, and staking. This role expects a candidate who is passionate about crypto and blockchain, comfortable with high expectations and feedback, and willing to solve difficult problems alongside high-caliber colleagues.

While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, roles are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year; team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually and attendance is expected and supported.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage full-stack engineering teams to guide development of features, services, and infrastructure across web and mobile.
• Coach direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and support their career growth.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate vision into quarterly roadmaps; break down complex projects and lead iterative design and implementation.
• Serve as a thoughtful technical voice within the team, aid in architectural decisions, and foster a culture of high-quality code and engineering processes.
• Collaborate with Product and other Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
• Work closely with talent teams to identify and recruit exceptional engineers who align with Coinbase's culture.
• Contribute to and take ownership of processes that drive engineering quality and meet engineering SLAs.
• Be hands-on when needed: write/review code or technical documents, participate in on-call rotations and incident leadership, triage and troubleshoot bugs.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 2 years of engineering management experience.
• Strong understanding of high-quality code and effective software engineering processes.
• Execution-focused mindset; able to navigate ambiguity and deliver results.
• Ability to balance long-term strategy with short-term planning.
• Experience creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
• Willingness and ability to be hands-on (code, on-call, incidents, triage).
• Passion for building an open financial system using crypto and blockchain technologies.

Compensation & Additional Info

• Job #: GEM06NA
• Pay Range: $201,450 — $237,000 USD (target annual salary; full-time offers may include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
