We are looking for an experienced engineering manager to lead one of our teams within the Consumer Product Group. The engineers within the Consumer Product Group strive to make the Coinbase retail app the easiest-to-use and fastest experience for accessing crypto. Suite of products include: Coinbase app, advanced trade, dapps, and staking.

While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage full-stack engineering teams to guide the development of features, services, and infrastructure across both web and mobile.
• Coach direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and support their career growth.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate vision into a tangible quarterly roadmap. Break down complex projects into smaller pieces and lead the iterative design and implementation process.
• Serve as a technical voice within the team, aiding in architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality code and engineering processes.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
• Work with the talent organization to identify and recruit engineers who align with Coinbase's culture.
• Contribute to and take ownership of processes that drive engineering quality and meet engineering SLAs.
• Participate hands-on when needed: writing/reviewing code or technical documents, participating in on-call rotations and leading incidents, triaging and troubleshooting bugs.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 2 years of engineering management experience.
• Strong understanding of high-quality code and effective software engineering processes.
• Execution-focused mindset; able to navigate ambiguity and deliver results.
• Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with short-term planning.
• Experience creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
• Comfortable being hands-on when necessary (code review, on-call, incident leadership, bug triage).
• Passion for building an open financial system and belief in the potential of crypto and blockchain technology.

Compensation

Pay Range: $201,450—$237,000 USD
Full time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).
