While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, in-person participation is required throughout the year, with multiple offsites annually for collaboration and alignment.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage full-stack engineering teams developing features, services, and infrastructure for web and mobile.
• Coach direct reports for positive organizational impact and career growth.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to create quarterly roadmaps, break down projects, and lead iterative design and implementation.
• Serve as a technical voice, making architectural decisions and fostering high-quality code and engineering processes.
• Collaborate across Product and Engineering teams to deliver and operate multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
• Work closely with talent acquisition to hire engineers aligned with Coinbase’s culture and product goals.
• Own and improve engineering quality processes to meet SLAs.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of engineering management experience.
• Strong understanding of high-quality code and effective engineering processes.
• Execution-focused with ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver results.
• Ability to balance long-term strategy with short-term planning.
• Experience creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
• Hands-on capability including coding, code review, technical documentation, on-call rotations, incident management, and bug triage.
• Passion for building an open financial system with global impact.
• Background in the SaaS industry.
