Engineering Manager, Host Pricing - Product UI Foundation

Airbnb is powered by Host and Guest communities. The Host Pricing org is forming a dedicated Frontend team to drive architecture and client experiences across pricing, availability, and guidance surfaces. This team will build and maintain reusable, cross-platform design systems and custom surfaces to deliver consistent, high-quality experiences across Web, iOS, and Android.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a newly created team of client engineers (10 total: 3 Android, 3 iOS, 4 Web), providing mission clarity and ownership of Host Pricing frontend architecture.
• Establish and advance frontend architecture across pricing, availability, and guidance surfaces; advocate for GraphQL-driven patterns to unify client experiences.
• Lead the development of a pricing design system with reusable, customizable, cross-platform frontend components.
• Partner with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to define design language systems and ensure consistent implementation across Web, iOS, and Android.
• Drive technical direction for frontend surfaces, balancing performance, scalability, and usability.
• Coach, mentor, and grow a team of client engineers; enable ICs to lead cross-platform technical initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure pricing and availability experiences are reliable, performant, and visually cohesive.
• Define and drive long-term technical strategy and architecture; lead efforts to architect, build, and launch reliable, performant, and scalable solutions.
• Lead team technical initiatives, align technical efforts with business outcomes, and prioritize engineering system requirements.
• Foster a culture of technical quality and operational excellence from design through production.
• Recruit, retain, and grow a diverse, high-performing engineering team.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of hands-on experience managing an engineering team and 9+ years of overall relevant software development industry experience in a fast-paced tech environment.
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Strong expertise leading client teams across native iOS, Android, and Frontend Web domains.
• Proven product and design instinct with experience building well-designed experiences.
• Experience leading and shipping large initiatives with high business impact.
• Demonstrated ability to create a culture of operational excellence focused on quality, reliability, and availability.
• Strong judgment to balance short-term business needs with long-term technical quality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; experience influencing stakeholders across teams.
• Experience fostering an inclusive and engaging team environment and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Proven ability to identify, retain, grow, and acquire critical talent.

Benefits / Compensation

• Base pay range: $204,000 — $255,000 USD (actual base pay depends on factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands).
• This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Location & Work Policy

• This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager.
